New Business

Through the support of NPR’s Digital Services, MSPR’s new website (www.wmky.org) is about ready. The new website will highlight local and regional news stories with audio and photos.

MSPR will participate in the Morehead Arts & Eats Festival on Saturday, September 21. Staff and students will sell SPAM sandwiches and bottled water with packets of Hawaiian Punch. The booth will be decorated in a Hawaiian theme. Volunteers and donations are needed to support the booth. Proceeds will benefit Christian Social Services, Gateway Homeless Coalition and Rowan County Christmas.

MSPR’s Fall Fundraiser will be similar to the spring campaign. Through the help of MSU’s Development Office, a call-out campaign will be conducted in early October. That will be followed by a direct-mail campaign targeted to current and past members. In addition, MSPR will broadcast a series of pre-recorded announcements reminding listeners to support MSPR.

MSPR’s Online Auction will take place October 18 – 23. Ideas for items and donations are needed for the auction. Proceeds will be counted towards the fall fundraiser total.

MSPR has joined three regional Chamber of Commerce organizations including Ashland Alliance (Boyd County), Fleming County and Montgomery County. Suggestions by the CAB were made to inquire for Grayson and West Liberty (Morgan County).

Hitchcock asked the CAB for their thoughts on adding a couple of KET news programs (“Connections” and “Comment on Kentucky”) to the schedule. Overall, the CAB was in favor of adding the programs. Several ideas were discussed to make room for the programs. Costs of national programs from APM/NPR/PRI were shared for discussion. General discussion of programming took place.

Closing Comments

The next CAB meeting will take place in MSPR’s studios at 6:30PM on Thursday, November 7, 2013.

There being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Leeann Akers to adjourn the meeting. Drew Henderson seconded the motion. The motion passed. The meeting concluded at 11:50AM.
