Event Description

Performed 2 weekends - July 6,7,8 & 13,14,15 - Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Truly an American classic, Arthur Miller's taut drama about the relentless Puritan purge of what was perceived as witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692 is both a gripping, historical play and a timely parable of contemporary society. "The Crucible" won the Tony Award for best play in 1953 and was first produced when the country was struggling with the worst excesses of McCarthyism in the years following World War II. Once again, in our time, Miller's powerfully-drawn characters and their struggle with oppression remind us that the war for freedom of conscience never ends.
