Senior Jade Flory scored two goals, and senior midfielder Caity Fox recorded a pair of assists to lead the Morehead State soccer team to a 3-0 win over Tennessee Tech Sunday (Oct. 5) at Jayne Stadium.

Sophomore forward Angela Black capped the scoring with a goal with just five seconds left. Morehead State improved to 8-2-4 overall, 3-0-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference and 6-0-0 at home this year. MSU is now 9-1-2 against Tech since 2003. The Golden Eagles fell to 2-11-0 overall, 0-4-0 in the league and 1-9-0 in road matches.

The Morehead State women's golf team fired a 305 on Tuesday (Sept. 30) at the Silver Lakes Golf Course to finish second in the 11-team Chris Banister Classic. The Eagles were second after the opening round and held their spot throughout the 54-hole affair.

"The goal is to win every tournament, but that's not very realistic in our sport," Head Coach Stephanie Barker said. "I was pleased with the way we handled all three rounds on a very challenging course. We played solid, everyone contributed and we were in contention to win."

The Morehead State baseball program is holding an alumni weekend in conjunction with MSU's Homecoming Week. The events will take place Saturday and Sunday.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be recognition of the 1983 Ohio Valley Conference Championship team at the MSU football game versus Campbell, which kicks off at 1 p.m. That team, coached by the late Steve Hamilton, won the OVC North Division Title, overall OVC Title and advanced to an NCAA Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich., where the Eagles won two games.

The Morehead State soccer team played 10 on 11 for nearly 50 minutes, but still managed to notch a 2-1 victory over Ohio Valley Conference opponent Austin Peay on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 28) at Jayne Stadium.

The Eagles improve to 6-2-4 overall, 1-0-1 in conference action and 4-0-0 at home, while the Governors slip to 2-8-0 overall, 1-1-0 in league play and 0-3-0 on the road.

The Morehead State rifle team is ranked in the top 20, according to the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association preseason poll.

MSU is ranked 19th, one of five Ohio Valley Conference teams listed among the nation's best.

"As the new coach at Morehead State, I look forward to the coming season," Head Coach Alan Joseph said. "The competition will be keen, especially in the OVC. I am happy to be among the top-20 NCAA rifle teams. My team is dedicated to continued improvement in 2014-15."

Morehead State has finalized its 2014-15 women's basketball schedule. The 29-game slate features six dates against postseason teams from a year ago, including Southeastern Conference member Kentucky and Big Ten opponent Indiana.

"We have a very competitive schedule," first-year Head Coach Greg Todd said. "We open the season with what should be a great traveling experience for our team at Norfolk State (Nov. 14) and George Mason (Nov. 16) and then face Kentucky (Nov. 19) and Indiana (Nov. 21) back-to-back."

Morehead State senior forward Jade Flory has been named Ohio Valley Conference Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Flory garnered her fifth weekly award from the league after winning the accolade four times in 2013.

She recorded two goals and an assist in the 4-1 win over Appalachian State Friday. Flory scored the Eagles' first and fourth goals while also assisting on the match-winning score. She now has 19 goals in less than two seasons at Morehead State.

Flory was the 2013 OVC Offensive Player of the Year.

The Morehead State men's golf team posted a 294 in the final round of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Monday (Sept. 8) at the Guyan Golf and Country Club. The Eagles closed out the 54-hole affair with an 895.

"The good news is our scores got better each day," Matthew Martin said after his first tournament as MSU's head coach. "The bad news is we have a lot of work to do as a group. Last place (15th) is not where we plan to be in the future."

Morehead State football student-athletes Brandon Bornhauser and Luke Keller have earned recognition from the College Football Performance Awards.

Bornhauser, a junior slot receiver/kick return specialist, was named Co-Kickoff Returner of the Week. Keller, a junior linebacker, was listed as an Honorable Mention Performer of the Week at his position.

The Morehead State volleyball program dropped both of its Saturday (August 30) matches in the Eagle Challenge at Wetherby Gym. MSU suffered a 25-10, 25-21, 25-10 defeat to Northern Kentucky and then lost a 20-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-22 decision to Radford.

NKU finishes the three-team event by winning both of its matches, while RU posted a 2-1 mark and MSU dropped all three of its tilts. The Highlanders won the Big South Conference last season, while the Eagles are the four-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champions.

Former Morehead State standout Chad Posthumus has signed a one-year contract with Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo of the National Basketball League of Japan (NBL).

"Congratulations to Chad and his family," Head Coach Sean Woods said. "We want players, like Chad, who have aspirations to earn their degree and play basketball at the next level. Time will tell, but I think he has a chance to be a very good professional player."

Morehead State redshirt senior Brandon Bornhauser has been named to the official Preseason All-Pioneer Football League Team as a return specialist.

Bornhauser, a native of Cincinnati, averaged a team-best 26.7 yards per kickoff return in 2013 with a long burst of 64 yards against Dayton. He also caught 16 passes for 138 yards and hauled in touchdown tosses at Valparaiso and Campbell. Bornhauser was utilized in goal-line offensive situations and produced a team-best five rushing touchdowns.

The Morehead State men's basketball program has finalized a preseason trip to the Bahamas, which includes three exhibition games against international competition. The Eagles are scheduled to depart the morning of Aug. 8 and return to campus the evening of Aug. 13.

Morehead State is slated to face the Grand Bahamas All-Stars (Aug. 9), Real Deal Shockers (Aug. 10) and Pyramid Food Rockets (Aug. 11). All contests will be played at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium in Nassau. Opposing teams will include former NCAA Division I and II players.

The Austin Peay baseball team broke a tie game in the top of the ninth and hung on for a 9-8 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Morehead State before a crowd of 584 on Saturday afternoon (May 3) at MSU’s Allen Field.

The crowd was MSU's second straight of more than 500 and its best at home since 1994.

The Morehead State men's basketball team has accepted a bid to the 2014 College Basketball Invitational (CBI). The Eagles are set to visit Missouri Valley Conference opponent Illinois State in the opening round on Wednesday (March 19) at 8 p.m.

The winner of Morehead State and Illinois State will face either Mountain West Conference opponent Wyoming or Southeastern Conference foe Texas A&M.

Wins in two doubles matches set the tone, and the Morehead State women's tennis team went on to defeat SIU Edwardsville 4-1 Sunday (March 16) at the EAGLE Center.

Morehead State (5-8/2-0 Ohio Valley Conference) won for the second time in as many days. The Cougars (5-7/0-2) lost for the second straight day.

In doubles, sophomore Briar Preston teamed with junior transfer Alex Tachovsky to beat Sierra Halverson and Mia Frogner, 8-1. Freshmen Andrea LeBlanc and Hayley Wild doubled up Kali Donner and Lindsey Raymond, 8-4.

The Morehead State women's tennis squad knocked off previously unbeaten Eastern Illinois, 4-3, Saturday (March 15) at MSU’s Sadler Courts.

The Panthers (6-1/0-1 OVC) entered the match ranked 74th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I poll, but the Eagles (4-8/1-0) won four of the six singles matches after dropping the doubles point.

Morehead State's men's tennis team rallied for a 4-3 victory against Eastern Illinois at MSU's Sadler Courts Saturday afternoon (March 15).

The Eagles (5-2/1-0 OVC) defeated the Panthers (3-5/0-1) for the sixth straight season. MSU lost the doubles point but rallied for wins at Nos. 1, 2,3 and 5 singles.

"We were mentally tough today. I really like the makeup of our team, and I feel we will only get better as the conference season moves ahead,” said MSU Head Coach Kevin Fulton.

The teams contested just two doubles matches, and EIU won 8-4 on both courts.

Junior catcher Chris Robinson's RBI single in the 10th inning scored pinch runner Cyrus Strahm as the Morehead State baseball team rallied for a 9-8 win in game one of a doubleheader against Tennessee Tech on Saturday (March 15). The Golden Eagles salvaged a split with a 17-8 victory in the nightcap.

Morehead State sits at 8-10 overall and 2-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while TTU is now 17-4 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Freshman pitcher Megan Tymorek allowed just three hits and senior shortstop Samantha Howard smashed a bases loaded two-run double to help the Morehead State softball team split an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader with Belmont on Saturday (March 15) at Rose Park.

MSU (4-13, 1-1) took game one 3-1, before Belmont (7-13, 1-1) stormed back to take the nightcap 7-0. In the opener, the Eagles claimed their fourth OVC opener in six seasons.

The Morehead State baseball program has announced multiple updates to its 2014 schedule. The moves are due to winter weather and unplayable field conditions in the state of Kentucky.

The Morehead State vs. Eastern Michigan series opener, originally scheduled for today (March 4) at Allen Field, has been canceled due to snow. A decision on Wednesday's contest on March 5 is expected to be made today.

The Ohio Valley Conference Eagles are off to a 5-6 start this year. The Mid-American Conference Eagles are 4-7 overall.

Junior guard Almesha Jones scored 20 points and dished out 10 assists, while senior guard Terrice Robinson and junior forward Mackenzie Arledge chipped in 14 points apiece to lead the Morehead State women's basketball team to an 81-74 victory over Tennessee Tech on Senior Night at MSU’s Johnson Arena on Saturday (March 1).

Freshman Hayley Wild won a straight-set decision in the final match to clinch a 4-3 victory for the Morehead State women's tennis team over Western Kentucky on Friday (Feb. 28) at the EAGLE Center.

The Eagles improved to 3-6, while the Hilltoppers fell to 3-3.

The Eagles won both doubles matches played to grab a 1-0 lead and held a 3-1 advantage before the visitors tied it with two singles wins. Wild defeated Alex Crofford 7-5, 6-4 at No. 5 to seal the win.

Former Morehead State standout Phil Simms, who spent 15 seasons with the National Football League's New York Giants, will be featured at the football program's fundraiser on Saturday, March 29. The event will take place inside MSU's Academic-Athletic Center.

The fundraiser is scheduled to begin with a meet and greet session at 6 p.m. Dinner will follow at approximately 7 p.m. Dinner tickets are $75 per person (which includes a $50 contribution). Dinner, plus the meet and greet, runs $150 per person (which includes a $125 contribution).

Morehead State sophomore Anna Appert Lund has been named adidas Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the period of October 16-22. It is her third weekly honor this season and the fifth of her career.

Appert Lund, a native of Bromma, Sweden, carded a 69-70-70--209 at the recent MTSU Blue Raider Invitational to claim medalist honors in the 85-golfer field. MSU posted a 304-295-305--904 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., to finish fourth out of 15 schools.

Season tickets for the 2013-14 Morehead State basketball seasons are now on sale. Fans have several packages to choose from. Both teams host 15 games in Johnson Arena.

"Season tickets are the best way for fans to support our teams and guarantee their seats for every game," Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs Darian Westerfield said. "We have many options to meet the needs of all our fans."

The Morehead State volleyball team used an 11-1 blocking advantage to record a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-18, 25-16) over Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday evening at Wetherby Gym.

The Eagles improved to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play with their 25th consecutive league win. The Colonels fell to 7-10 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. The victory was also MSU's 15th straight over EKU.

Game times have been announced for the 2013-14 Morehead State women's basketball season. The Eagles are set to host 15 games in Johnson Arena this year.

Construction continues on Morehead State's new outdoor multi-purpose facility, which will also be used as a soccer practice field.

It is being built in the Breathitt Sports Complex, adjacent to the Academic-Athletic Center and just west of Jayne Stadium.

Designed by Carman Landscape Architecture and being built by Free Construction Company, the facility will be primarily used for student activities and will contain field turf, lights and a scoreboard.
