As a result of the winter weather and road conditions, the 16th Region Basketball Tournament boys first round games originally scheduled for Thursday, March 3 have been postponed. The revised schedule for the 16th Region Girls and Boys Tournament is as follows:
The Boys first round games between Rowan County-West Carter and Boyd County-Raceland will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016. The first game will be at 6:30 p.m., with Rowan County facing West Carter. The second game will begin 25 minutes following the end of the first game, or at approximately 8:00 p.m., with Boyd County facing Raceland.
The girls semifinals will be played on Saturday, March 3. The first game will start at 6:30 p.m., with Boyd County facing East Carter. The second game will begin 25 minutes following the end of the first game, or at approximately 8:00 p.m., with Rowan County facing Russell. The finals for the girls tournament will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The semifinals and finals for the boys tournament will be played as originally scheduled, with the semifinals being played on Monday, March 7 starting at 6:30 p.m. The boys final game will be played on Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m.
“We want our teams and fans to be safe and we look forward to seeing everyone back in Johnson Arena on Friday night,” said Tim Rhodes, 16th Region Tournament Manager.
