5th District Democrats Debate
A Manchester attorney seeking the Democratic nomination for Congress in the 5th District says he’ll do whatever he can to help the region’s struggling coal industry. Kenneth Stepp discussed the issue Monday on KET’s Kentucky Tonight.
He thinks some of the environmental regulations on mining may be based on flawed research…
However, another Democrat in the race says people in the region should realize that coal will never be the force it once was and work to diversify the economy. Billy Ray Wilson is retired from the military and lives in London…
Wilson also appeared on the KET program. Whoever wins the Democratic primary will face incumbent Republican Hal Rogers in November.
