Anna Magnusson Birdies 18th hole to Win Lady Pirate

Morehead State Athletics

Senior Anna Magnusson fired a 70 in the final round to win the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon. This marks Magnusson's second straight win and the fourth of her career at Morehead State.

"I think the key for me scoring low was that I am a long hitter," said Magnusson. "I put myself in a good position and rolled in some great putts. I'm proud of how I managed the course the last two days. I had fun out there and enjoyed every moment of it."

Overall, the Eagles shot 46-over and finished tied for third overall out of 18 teams. Morehead State carded 304-305-301 in the three-round event at the Greenville Country Club.

Magnusson opened the tournament with a 71 on Monday morning and took the lead entering the second round. She then closed the second round on Monday afternoon with birdies on her last two holes to open up a two-stroke lead.

During the final round she bogied the eighth and 16th holes and entered the 18th hole tied for the lead at three-under. She then birdied the 18th for the second straight day to win the tournament by one stroke.

Magnusson's final tally was 71-71-70-212, finishing four-below par.
