Ashland Inc. Won't Sell Valvoline

Ashland Incorporated announced today that it has no plans to sell its automotive lubricants business known as Valvoline. Chairman of the Covington-based specialty chemicals company James O’Brien says the decision was reached after Ashland’s board of directors completed a comprehensive review of the firm’s portfolio…

O’Brien says Ashland is forging ahead with the previously announced sale of its Water Technologies business. He spoke during the firm’s quarterly conference call.

The company today also reported adjusted operating income of 212-million dollars for the past three months. That compares with 185-million for the same quarter a year ago.
