Author Barbara Amaya to Speak at MSU's Student Association of Human Trafficking Event

Morehead State University’s Student Association of Human Trafficking (SAHT) will host an event Wednesday, March 30, at 6 p.m. in Crager Room of the Adron Doran University Center. 

Barbara Amaya, a trafficking survivor and award winning author, will be the speaker.

Amaya is an author, advocate and survivor. At age 12, she was trafficked first in Washington, D.C. and then on the streets of New York for more than a decade.

A sought-after speaker and advocate for trafficking victims and survivors of trauma everywhere, Amaya has shared her story in multiple media including television and college campuses as well as with many civic, legal, faith and women’s organizations.

In 2014, she was awarded the James B. Hunter Human Rights Award and also was a featured speaker at the 2015 TEDx Mid Atlantic talks.

Her memoir “Nobody's Girl” was awarded best autobiography at the 2015 TAZ author awards.
