Belle of Cincinnati to Visit Maysville

Terry Prather, The Ledger Independent

The Ohio River has been a resource for commerce travel for centuries; it has also been an entertaining, adventure venue for riverboat travel customers.

In May 1980, the first BB Riverboat excursion was launched and the next 35 years has seen the Cincinnati based company grow.

On July 29-30, a variety of cruise activities will be available from Maysville on BB Riverboats flagship the Belle of Cincinnati.

Each climate-controlled deck of the ship includes a full bar, dance floor and elevator matching the Victorian décor of the ship.

The upper deck is open-air, for watching the scenery as the ship travels the area near Maysville and beyond.

Private charters can also be booked on the ship, officials said.

BB Riverboats gets its name from the initials of the people who were instrumental in getting the business started, the late Ben Bernstein and Betty Blake.

Blake had a history in the riverboat industry, including Delta Queen Steamboat Company, which was headquartered in Cincinnati.

Bernstein named BB Riverboats' first riverboat after Betty.

Portraits of them both are displayed on the Belle of Cincinnati.

On July 29 a dinner cruise departs from Maysville at 7:30 p.m., for a two-hour excursion, which includes entertainment by a deejay and options of a meal or no meal pricing.

On July 30, there is a lunch time cruise, noon to 2 p.m., with options of a meal or no meal pricing.

At 3:30 p.m., the sightseeing cruise gets under way, on July 30,

All tours depart from and return to Limestone Landing.
