Beshear Supports Conway in Kentucky Governor's Race

Kentucky.com

Governor Beshear says he’ll do everything he can to help Democrat Jack Conway become Kentucky’s next governor. However, Beshear says, no matter who wins the contest this fall, he hopes the new chief executive will build upon what has been accomplished over the past eight years.

Beshear says he doesn’t like to hear candidates claiming they’ll dismantle programs just because the ideas for them came from the other party. He spoke with CN2’s Pure Politics.

“Should it be tweeked, are there different ways you can do some things? Sure, and everybody will have their own ideas about how to move forward and build on what we have. But, that’s what people need to be concentrating on. How do we make it even better?”

Beshear says Kentucky is “on a roll right now”, boasting the fourth highest graduation rate in the U.S. last year.

Beshear says college and career readiness has gone from 38 percent in 2010 to 62 percent today, and Site Selection Magazine awarded Kentucky the Governor’s Cup for creating more jobs per capita in 2014 than any other state.
