‘Biomorphic’ opens Sept .10

MSU

"Biomorphic: Recent Work by Steve Budington, Sarah Knill, Claudine Metrick, Tammie Rubin and Scott Turri" will open in the main gallery of Morehead State University's Claypool-Young Art Building Wednesday, Sept. 10,  from 5-7 p.m.

The exhibition that features contemporary ceramic sculpture, painting, drawing, mixed media and collage, will close Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Through a national call for submissions, the exhibition "Biomorphic" was curated to include five artists from near and far whose works revolved around variations of natural and/or organic forms.

An artist who incorporates invented narratives utilizing recognizable objects in her sculptural work, Rubin from Champaign, Illinois, will be the visiting artist associated with the exhibition. Rubin will present a free gallery lecture Thursday, Oct. 2, from 9:10 - 10:10 a.m., in the Claypool-Young Art Building. The event is open to the public.

While on the campus, Rubin also will present to ceramic students through studio demos and on gallery relationships through the Arts Entrepreneurship course held at the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music.

The gallery in Claypool-Young features contemporary art for the MSU community as well as the University's service region. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment. There is no charge for viewing and the public is invited. Parking is available on Main Street during the day, and on the MSU campus after 5 p.m. weekdays, and all day on weekends.

Additional information is available by calling Jennifer Reis, gallery director, at 606-783-5446 or email j.reis@moreheadstate.edu .
