Congressman Rogers on Mill Springs Battlefield Study

Currier and Ives

The National Park Service would conduct a study to determine whether a Civil War battle site in Pulaski and Wayne Counties should be added to the federal park system, under legislation approved Monday in the House of Representatives. The measure authorizing the feasibility review for the Mill Springs Battlefield is sponsored by Republican Congressman Hal Rogers, who represents the area.

He says the Battle of Mill Springs was an important Union victory that led to others…

Rogers says those later Union victories came at Fort Donelson and Shiloh. He says the Mill Springs Battlefield Association has done important work to preserve the site, in the hopes of turning it over to the National Park Service.
