Culvert Replacement to Disrupt Traffic on KY 32 in Rowan County

newstalkkgvo.com

State highway crews repairing a damaged culvert on KY 32 near Elliottville in Rowan County will need to temporarily close the highway at times this Tuesday.

The culvert, located on KY 32 at milepoint 16.2 between Stegall Road and KY 3317 (CCC Trail), is of old stone masonry construction. Bridge crews are prepping the culvert for repair now.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, new high-density plastic piping will be installed within the existing structure, and grouted into place. Construction will require lane closures and stopping all traffic for up to 20 minutes at a time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. that day.

Crews will make accommodations for emergency vehicle traffic, but all other traffic should seek alternate routes or be prepared for long waits at the work site. (Local traffic may use KY 3317 to reroute to and from Elliottville and Morehead, but that detour is not suitable for commercial or large vehicle traffic.)

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
