Daniel Becker Heads Volleyball Operations

MSU Athletics

Daniel Becker, who served as Morehead State's graduate assistant for athletic video operations the past two years and produced more than 100 events for the Ohio Valley Conference Digital Network, has been named the school's director of volleyball operations.

"I really enjoyed my position as video coordinator, but I'm excited about this new role because of the respect I have for our volleyball student-athletes and coaches," Becker said. "I want to thank the people who originally brought me to Morehead State and those who continue to believe in me."

Becker will handle a variety of day-to-day tasks in his new role with the four-time defending OVC volleyball champions. He will be responsible for all film exchange and video efforts, while assisting with social media updates, camp operations and many other special projects.

"Daniel is an outstanding addition to our program," Head Coach Jaime Gordon said. "He brings an amazing skill set to what we're doing. Daniel's talent and passion for the game will be extremely valuable as we continue to spread the word about Morehead State volleyball."

Becker was primarily responsible for building MSU's video operation from scratch in 2012-13 and 2013-14. "Eagle Vision" now produces more than 55 live events, 45 feature packages and 35 highlight videos each year. The unit also includes a roster of 8-10 undergraduate students.

A native of Huntsville, Texas, Becker produced the weekly Eagle Sports Coaches Show in 2012-13 and 2013-14. He served as the point person for all external video requests and regularly sent highlights to local television stations, which helped Morehead State pick up much more exposure.

"Daniel did a tremendous job with our video operation the past two years," Athletic Media Relations Director Matt Segal said. "It's hard to explain how much progress we've made since he came on board. Our video operation went from virtually nothing to one of the best in the conference."

Becker earned a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Sam Houston State in 2012 and master's degree in sport management from MSU in 2014. He worked for SHSU's Bearkat Sports Network as an undergraduate, where he produced several videos for local TV and GoBearkats.com.

"Daniel will do an outstanding job for MSU volleyball," Segal added. "He is a huge asset to our athletic department because of his talent, work ethic and easy-going personality. Daniel worked a countless number of 14-hour days in his previous role. There aren't too many young people who grind like that. Daniel is knowledgeable, organized, thorough, responsible and will do anything the coaches ask of him. I'm looking forward to working with him again this school year."

Becker replaces Alex DelPiombo, who was tabbed as an assistant coach at Samford last February.
