Eastern Kentucky's women's basketball team outscored Morehead State 10-3 in the final three minutes of overtime and held on to defeat the Eagles 69-66 in an Ohio Valley Conference contest Saturday (Feb. 8) at McBrayer Arena. The Colonels won their fifth straight game in the series and improved to 13-8 overall this year and 7-3 in the league. MSU slipped to 10-14 overall and 4-7 in the conference.

MSU freshman guard Aaliyah Wells, who scored a career-high 14 points for the second straight game, hit a three-pointer with 1:17 left in the extra period to put her team on top 66-64. Wells nailed a jumper from the top of the key with 36 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 55. Junior guard Almesha Jones' last-second shot in regulation was blocked. Jones finished with a team-high 21 points in 42 minutes of action, her fifth 20+ effort in the last eight games. The OVC assist leader handed out a game-best eight today.
