Safely providing affordable, reliable electricity 24/7/365 is a challenging job. But East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) knows where to turn when they need a few good men and women: America’s military veterans.

In October, EKPC will offer job fairs for veterans to highlight the electric cooperative and its related careers.

“Veterans often have skills and training that fit very well with the technical positions in the electric power industry,” said Teri Lacy, human resources business partner for EKPC. “Plus, they have served our country and often have made tremendous personal and family sacrifices, so we want to see if there is an opportunity for us to help.”

She said EKPC is looking particularly for veterans with mechanical and electrical abilities, engineering skills and excellent communications skills

In October, EKPC will conduct job fairs for veterans at three of its locations.

·         Oct. 18 – Spurlock Station, Maysville, Ky.

·         Oct. 19 – Cooper Station, Somerset, Ky.

·         Oct. 21 – EKPC Headquarters, Winchester, Ky.

The daylong job fairs will include presentations from EKPC, Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Employment Services and location Community & Technical Colleges.

Lunch will be provided.

To attend, veterans must register with EKPC by Oct. 1, by calling EKPC’s Lauren Byarski at (859) 744-4812 or by email at lauren.byarski@ekpc.coop. Please specify the location of attendance and any dietary restrictions.
