Lexington Police are investigating a shooting that happened during a basketball game last night in Douglas Park.
Officers were in the park when they heard multiple gun shots just after 9:00. Three people were taken to the hospital and two other people showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds and police believe those injuries happened at Douglas Park. In all, four men and one woman ended up at the hospital, one is in critical condition and the other four have non-life threatening injuries.
Lieutenant Jonathan Bastian spoke with WKYT at the scene and is asking anyone who may have any information to come forward. "When the shots were fired, there was a lot of chaos, so we're having difficulty identifying witnesses. So we're making a big plea for people if they were here and they saw anything or they know anything. They don't have to meet us in person, they can call 859-258-3700 or they can reach us through Blue Grass Crime Stoppers.”
Bastian said the investigation is ongoing and since there are conflicting statements from witnesses, it’s unclear how many shooters they are looking for.
