Fleming-Mason Energy is encouraging customers to phone the utility if they receive a call from someone claiming to represent the company and demanding payment of a bill.
Director of Member Services Mary Beth Nance says scammers are placing such calls and telling customers someone will be coming to their door soon to collect the money or their service will be turned off.
Nance says those calls are not coming from Fleming-Mason.
“We recommend our customers always ask for specific information from anyone claiming to represent our company, such as their name, the company contact information.” –Mary Beth Nance
Nance says the company is turning over all information it has received about the scam to Kentucky State Police.
