Former Eagle Tyler Keele Named All-Star for Northwest League

MSU Athletics

Former Morehead State baseball standout Tyler Keele has been named to the all-star game roster for the Northwest League, a class A short season circuit.

Keele, a right-handed pitcher who was drafted in the 15th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, is 3-3 in seven starts for the Hillsboro (Ore.) Hops. Previously a bullpen guy, Keele made the move to starter prior to the summer and sports a 3.05 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 41 innings. He also has a 1.02 WHIP (walks + hits in innings pitched).

The Northwest League All-Stars will take on the Pioneer League All-Stars on August 1 in Hillsboro.

Keele, from Clayton, N.C., settled into the closer role midway through his junior year at Morehead State in 2015. He helped the Eagles win the OVC Tournament and take part in the NCAA Louisville Regional. As a senior in 2016, Keele had seven saves, and opponents only hit .187 against him and his mid-90's fastball.
