Four Football Eagles Named to Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame All-Commonwealth Team

Four Morehead State football athletes have been named to the 2017 Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame All-Commonwealth Team.

Sponsored by Community Trust Bank, the Kentucky Collegiate All Commonwealth Team is a pre-season recognition award for football players attending a Kentucky college or university. The Kentucky Collegiate All Commonwealth Team represents the best college football players that the state of Kentucky has to offer while their dedication to the game has contributed significantly to their teams. The player shall have the distinctive responsibility to lead his teammates in the classroom and on the field.

Morehead State's honorees include redshirt junior defensive lineman Colt Briggs, redshirt junior offensive lineman Kyler Corbett, redshirt sophomore cornerbackBrandynDuncan, and junior tight end Jake Sutherland.

Briggs (Wilmington, Ohio), who was named Second-Team All-PFL, PFL All-Academic Second-Team, CoSIDA Academic All-American, awarded COSIDA Academic All-District II First-Team, and PFL co-Defensive Player of the Week once last year. Briggs collected 80 total tackles on the season and led the team with five sacks. He also had a team high 17.5 tackles for a loss on the season and two fumble recoveries.

Corbett (Liberty Township, Ohio), was named Honorable Mention All-PFL, while starting all 11 games. Corbett also blocked for an offensive line that led the league in passing offense.

Duncan (Lexington, Ky.), who started all 11 games, recorded 39 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Duncan was second on the team with 13 pass breakups on the season.

Sutherland (Ortonville, Mich.), appeared in all 11 games, while starting two. He caught 14 passes for 196 yards and was responsible for three touchdowns on the season.
