Funeral Services Set For Western Kentucky Family

WDRB

A tight-knit community in western Kentucky is preparing to say goodbye to a mother and her eight children who perished last week in a house fire.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (Feb. 8) for Larae Watson and her children who ranged in age from 4 to 15.

Jimmy Rager is a deacon a Calvary Baptist Church in Central City (Muhlenberg County) where the family attended.  He says the family of 11 struggled financially but never felt poor.

“They all loved one another and you wouldn’t think that they knew they were living under tight conditions financially.  They just had a great love for one another as a family.  They all stuck together very closely,” says Rager.

Investigators say the fire started when an electric baseboard heater ignited some items in one of the bedrooms.

36 year old Chad Watson and his 11 year old daughter Kylie were the only ones to make it out of the burning home.  They remain in the hospital, but both are expected to make a full recovery.
