Though the gun rights group's  latest ad has dominated the airwaves in late September, another national organization is preparing a media blitz to defeat Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes in October.

The next organization you’re likely to hear from is Crossroads Grassroots Political Strategies, which plans to shell out $1.2M in the last full month before the election.

In a statement, Grimes spokesperson Charly Norton said McConnell “clearly relies on out-of-state donations from millionaires and billionaires to enable his campaign’s false and misleading attack ads.”

Meanwhile, the McConnell campaign has pointed to the financial backing Grimes has received from liberal Hollywood supporters such as producer Jeffrey Katzenberg.

According to a Courier-Journal analysis of $37 million in identified contributions to the two candidates so far, roughly 85 percent has come from outside Kentucky. Some analysts have predicted Kentucky's Senate contest could go down as the most expensive in history.
