Campbell County District Court Judge Karen Thomas says heroin dealers in Kentucky need to be dealt with harshly. Thomas testified today before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of legislation that stiffens penalties for heroin traffickers and also expands education and treatment services. Bellevue Police Chief Wayne Turner says 54 Campbell County residents died from overdoses of heroin last year. He says the drug is coming into Kentucky through dealers in Cincinnati.
