Jobs Needed In East Kentucky

City College of San Francisco

Kentucky Democratic Senator Robin Webb from Carter County says she’d like to see state economic development officials work with businesses and entrepreneurs to offer more incentives to invest in eastern Kentucky.

Webb says few of the projects being launched in the Commonwealth are taking place in her region of the state.

“I’ve got too many people driving two hours a day to work, that want to live in east Kentucky, and it’s not just us…the urbanization and all the policies that are geared on the federal level toward the urbanization of America. It’s not always a great thing and especially for those of us who want to stay where we are and appreciate the rural way of life.” –Robin Webb

Webb and Republican State Representative Jill York, also of Carter County, are asking the Economic Development Cabinet to hold forums in eastern Kentucky to explain state programs that help start new businesses.
