Kentucky Arts Council Selects West Liberty Photographer as Featured Artist

Tim Webb

West Liberty artist Dean Hill has been selected as the Kentucky Arts Council's featured artist for April.

Hill works full time out of his gallery, Gallery of the Hills, in eastern Kentucky, producing fine art photographs on both photo paper and canvas. Along with his photography, Hill’s work includes two self-published photographic books, “Spirit of Appalachia Kentucky” and “Appalachia – Spirit of the Seasons.”

Hill says his goal is to capture the essence of his home region.

“Capturing the moment has become the inspiration and key for my photography. Foggy mornings on Pine Mountain, tranquil reflections on one of our local lakes and streams or a fleeting mid-April blizzard coating our colorful redbuds all involve being there in mind as well as body,” Hill says.

To learn more about Hill, visit the arts council's website at: http://artscouncil.ky.gov

The featured artists' page includes:
  • A story about his work.
  • A video of Hill discussing his work.
  • Contact information for Hill.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, fosters environments for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
