The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) will open a new temporary exhibit and offer free admission to the entire KHS history campus June 1 – June 3 in celebration of Statehood Day and Kentucky’s 225th birthday.
The celebration will start at noon on June 1 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open “People of Kentucky,” an exhibit that uses stories, objects and photographs to throw the spotlight on some well-known and not-so-well-known Kentuckians. Collectively, their stories contribute to that of Kentucky.
KHS also is offering free admission to all of its sites through the weekend. This includes all attractions at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History (exhibits, research library and 1792 Store), tours at the Old State Capitol and entrance to the Kentucky Military History Museum. It does not include Saturday Workshop activities.
After June 3, normal admission applies: $8, adults; $6, ages 6-18 and veterans; free, children ages 5 and under, KHS and KJHS members. The Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History is located at 100 W. Main St., Frankfort. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
