KY 435/AA Highway Detour Begins Thursday in Mason County

Kentucky Department of Transportation

Contractors will temporarily close KY 435 on the Fernleaf-Germantown side of the AA Highway intersection for the next four weeks.

On Thursday, April 14, the road will be barricaded near milepoint 0.6, just south of the AA Highway (KY 9), and the following detours established:

-Northbound KY 435 thru traffic from the KY 10 intersection at Fernleaf must use KY 10 to the AA Highway (KY 9), then take the AA (KY 9) north to access KY 435 toward Minerva.

-Southbound KY 435 thru traffic from the Minerva area may continue to the AA Highway intersection, then must turn south on the AA (KY 9) to KY 10 and return west on KY 10 to KY 435 at Fernleaf.

-Local traffic on KY 435 between KY 10 and the AA will be maintained up to the point of closure near the AA intersection.

The detours are expected to remain in place for approximately four weeks. The traffic change comes as work progresses on an $18 million project to add another 5 miles of four-lane capacity to the AA Highway corridor at Maysville.

Two-way traffic is being maintained on the AA during construction, with the speed limit reduced to 45 miles per hour in the work zone to protect workers as they build new travel lanes adjacent to existing ones. In addition, motorists should watch for occasional flagged traffic, daily stopped traffic for blasting, and other impacts.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow-down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
