Maysville Family Displaced by Fire

A family of four was displaced from their home in the Deerfield Village Subdivision on Wednesday (Jan. 28) due to a fire.

According to owner Susie Osborne, her tenant, Brittany Osman called her around 7 p.m., saying there were flames coming out the chimney and side of the house located at 37 Bryant Circle.

Osman said she was in the bathroom, preparing to go to church with her family when she heard a buzzing sound. She said she went into the kitchen and that is when she saw the flames and smoke.

The Maysville Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire, which was contained to the attic of the one story home.  Osman and her husband, Josh were told the fire started in the furnace.

Osborne, who also lives in Deerfield Village said the important thing was that everyone got out of the house safely.

Some of the family's contents were removed from the home by MPD personnel, while tarps were used to cover other furnishings remaining in the home.  It was necessary to cut out all ceilings in the home to insure the fire was out in the duct work system.

The family is being assisted by the Mason County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Maysville Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Maysville Police Department.
