Men's Tennis Slams Tennessee State

Morehead State's men's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 7-0 victory at Tennessee State on Sunday (March 30).

The Eagles improved to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while the Tigers fell to 0-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The Eagles grabbed a 1-0 lead with doubles wins at Nos. 1 and 2. The Tigers defaulted at No. 3. Senior Ji Hoon Heo and freshman Jack Swindells outlasted Daniel Bernal and Kyle Burton 8-7 on court one. At No. 2, sophomore Nick Mercer and senior David Clifford topped Joe Daniel and Branden McClain 8-3.

Morehead State won four of the five singles contests in straight sets. Sophomore Giovanni Samaha was the last Eagle on the court, and he defeated Burton 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on court two.

Clifford stayed perfect in league matches (4-0) with a 6-0 6-0 blanking of Jared Asher at No. 5. Mercer bested McClain 6-0, 6-1 on court four.

Morehead State returns to action Wednesday (April 2) at Eastern Kentucky. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
