Mitsubishi Electric's Maysville Plant to Expand

The Ledger Independent

Officials at the Maysville office of Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, Inc. have announced the company is planning to add more than 100 new jobs at the Maysville factory.

The job expansion will occur over the next few years and is attributed to the addition of the company's electric power steering production lines, officials said in a press release.

The Maysville factory of Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, has been part of the community since its groundbreaking in 1994. The company began its first production line in 1995 producing car audio units (radios) with 65 associates.

The company has seen expansions with its ignition coil production line; in-line production line (also an ignition coil production line); the construction of its 1703 Downing Drive building; and, just recently, with the addition of its electric power steering production line.

Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, Inc., a U.S. affiliate company of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, was established in 1979 to serve the North American automotive, heavy duty truck and coach business and is headquartered in Mason, Ohio.

News of the employee expansion at Mitsubishi comes just one month after GreenTokai announced a $4 million expansion at its plant on Downing Drive in the William Schugars Industrial Park.

In addition, the City of Maysville has been awarded a federal grant in the amount of $1.5 million for the construction of a new water storage tank at the industrial park.

The new tank will increase water volume to 1,500 gallons per minute to businesses located in the industrial park.  The tank will also improve fire protection services to the area.
