Morehead Lacks Restaurants

Despite the volume of business being done by Morehead’s new Cracker Barrel, no other major restaurant chains have announced plans to open an eatery in the area anytime soon. Mayor David Perkins believes several things are holding them back. He says they want a return on their investment too quickly and there’s still uncertainty about the economy.

He says, for those willing to crunch numbers in greater detail, they’ll find the Morehead market is a good place to be…

"I know that for a fact that Cracker Barrel did their homework…they determined that it would be a viable option for them before they ever came to us. Any other business should do their homework…you can’t just look at our paper demographics, because they’re woefully lacking…but the realties here are much different than what’s on paper" - Morehead Mayor David Perkins

Cracker Barrel opened its Morehead store in February, 2012 and it is believed to be among the chain’s top performers.
