Morehead offers cooling center on Saturday noon to 6 p.m.

Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce reports:

The City of Morehead, Morehead Housing Authority and Gateway House Homeless Shelter have partnered to open a cooling center at the Rowan County Senior Center located at 200 Heritage Place.

The cooling center will be open on Saturday, July 22 from noon until 6:00 p.m.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Morehead Mayor Jim Tom Trent says special thanks to Senior Center Director Glenna Crockett, Gateway House Director Marilyn Lewis Smith and Morehead Housing Authority Director Jeff Patrick.

MorTrans has a regular bus route that stops at the center. Call 462-3645 for a bus schedule.

Paul Hitchcock earned his Masters in Communications from Morehead State University and Bachelors in Radio-TV/Psychology from Georgetown College. A veteran broadcaster for more than 40 years and an avid fan of blues, jazz and American roots music. Hitchcock has been with WMKY since 1986 and was named General Manager in 2003. He currently hosts "Muddy Bottom Blues" (Fri., 8pm-9pm), "Nothin' But The Blues" (Sat., 8pm-12am), "Sunday Night Jazz Showcase" and "Live From The Jazz Lounge" (Sun., 8pm-9pm) and "The Golden Age of Radio" (Sun., 2pm-3pm). He also serves as producer for "A Time For Tales" and "The Reader's Notebook."
