Morehead State Conducting Self-Study of Academic Programs

Morehead State University

If any new programs are recommended at Morehead State University as a result of the university’s current self-study of its curriculum, they’ll have to be approved by the faculty and Kentucky’s Council on Postsecondary Education.

That’s according to MSU Provost Doctor Stephen Ralston who is leading the review. Ralston is leading the self-study of MSU’s academic programs, which is targeted for completion in early May.

Suggestions for new programs, he points out, would still be a long way from happening.

“We have to do our own business on the administrative side. Can we support this financially? Does this make sense in terms of marketing? And of course, then there is the process that we go through the state so, the state has to weigh in and say…is this something that we want to do? Are there competing programs? And so, it’s a very rigorous process.”

Morehead State University President Wayne Andrews is hosting two forums for faculty and staff on the self-study and other issues.

The first is Monday, March 23rd in the Crager Room of the Adron Doran University Center at 3 p.m. The second is March 24th at 8 a.m. in the same location.
