MSU to Celebrate Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance

MSU

Morehead State University honors the strength and resilience of our Nation on Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance , Wednesday, Sept. 11.

MSU's Student Government Association erected the flag plaza in front of Howell-McDowell Administration Building in early 2002 in memory of those who died in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Each year thereafter, MSU continued to honor the memory of the fallen and celebrate the resilience of the United States.

This Patriot Day, MSU will display 6,000 United States flags on the lawn beside the Bell Tower. The flags will stand in remembrance of the men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in support of our Nation since 2001.

Students, faculty, staff and students are invited to place the remaining 755 flags from 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. on Sept. 11.

Additional information is available by contacting Max Ammons, director of Military Initiatives, at 606-783-9267.
