MSU Cheerleaders, Dance Team Heading to Nationals

Morehead State University’s cheerleading program is looking to add to its 34 total national championships at the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) College Cheerleading Team Championships.

"The expectation for us is that we have worked really hard to win," said Mark Coleman, head coach. "We have had a pretty rigorous schedule the last few weeks, and have performed a few times in front of big crowds. I feel like they are ready to go."

The competition will take place Jan. 17-19 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Both teams have performed at selected Morehead State basketball contests and showcases in preparation for the upcoming competition.

"I just want them to go out and have the best performance they can, execute their stunts and use high energy," said Coleman.
At the 2013 championship, the partner stunt and coed squads were crowned champions, while the all-girl team placed second in its division.

The all-girl team begins its competition on Saturday with semi-finals at 1:10 p.m., while the coed squad is scheduled to perform Saturday at 9:18 p.m.

MSU’s dance team also will compete at the championships.

Varsity.com will be streaming the events for only $19.99.
