MSU Seeks To Purchase Brass Eagle Property

Morehead State University is waiting for final approval from the Kentucky Secretary of Finance and Administration to follow through with a deal to acquire a more than 1 acre piece of property at the edge of campus.

Recently, the MSU Board of Regents gave the approval to a contract for an option to buy the Brass Eagle Apartment building, which is located on East Main Street.

MSU’s Chief Financial Officer is Vice President Beth Patrick, who says if the sale goes through, Morehead State will build a welcome center on the site.

“It will be a home for our Alumni Center, our Development Office and it would serve as the initial point for visitors to campus, students and parents…a place to be greeted, get maps, parking passes…that kind of thing. Right there on the edge of campus it was a pretty strategic piece of property that we wanted as part of our campus master plan.” –Beth Patrick

Patrick says MSU should hear back from the State Finance and Administration Office about the proposed purchase in the next week or so. The 2 to 3 million dollar welcome center would be built with the help of private funds.
