The Morehead State soccer team picked up its first shutout victory since October 28, 2011 in a 1-0 victory over SIUEdwardsville Sunday (October 6) at Ralph Korte Stadium.
MSU (3-8-1, 2-1) got the winner in the 63rd minute, when junior forward Macy Cobb received a through ball from junior forward Jade Flory and was able to slide it into the net after an initial save from the SIUE (7-3-3, 1-2-1) keeper.
"We played our most complete game of the season," Head Coach Warren Lipka said. "We defended very well as a group."
Each team took three first half shots. All three Cougar shots were on goal, while one MSU shot required a save. Following the goal, the MSU defense allowed only one shot during the final 28:27 of play.
The Eagles finished the match with a 6-5 shots advantage. SIUE forced two saves by sophomore keeper Elizabeth Floyd, while MSU forced two saves.
After four straight road contests, the Eagles host U-T Martin Friday (October 11) at Jayne Stadium. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
