MSU Welcome Center Project Begins

MSPR

Site preparation is now underway for construction of a Welcome Center at Morehead State University.

A demolition crew is in the process of razing the former Brass Eagle apartment complex along University Boulevard to make way for the facility, which will stand at what will become the main entrance to MSU.

The Welcome Center will be operated by the Division of University Advancement.  Jim Shaw is vice-president of the unit.

Shaw says a request for proposals for designs of the privately-funded building will go out soon.

“We already have a lead donor who has pledged over a million dollars. We think this will between a three to four million dollar project. We’ve gone out and we’ve talked to our alumni, they are very excited about it. This will all be done with private funds and we’re looking forward to a quick campaign and a quick building process to dedicate this soon.” –Jim Shaw

Shaw says he’d like to see the building finished and open for business in two to three years.
