MSU's Space Science Exhibit at Highlands Museum Nears Completion

Highlands Museum & Discovery Center

Highlands Museum and Discovery Center Director Carol Allen says the second phase of a new space science exhibit at the Ashland facility will be completed next week.

She says the floor is being painted and NASA materials will be hung on the walls to prepare the area for the educational workshops it will soon be hosting for middle and high school students.

Allen says Dr. Eric Thomas of Morehead State University’s Space Science Center has designed the workshops around a “Mystery Planet” theme.

“And the students will be given rocks, sea shells, sand, all the different kinds of media, and then they’re gonna have to identify what organic matter is within that and kind of eliminate, or find out, what kind of life is on this planet, and it’s done in a very fun way.”

The new permanent exhibit at the Highlands’ is a partnership with Morehead State’s Space Science Center.
