New City Building in South Shore

Portsmouth Daily Times

South Shore could have a new city building by the end of next year…That’s according to Mayor Cheryl Moore who has been working out of a temporary office since the former municipal structure was destroyed in a 2010 fire. She’s hoping the construction contract is bid in September…

"The architects should have the plans finalized by mid-August...and then we'll have to submit it to the state...to get the building permit. We are hoping to be in by next September, a year from now. " - South Shore Mayor Cheryl Moore

Moore says the new city building will be located near the South Shore post office and will include some county offices. The cost is estimated at less than half a million dollars. Moore says it’s being made possible with the insurance payment from the old building and assistance from the federal Department of Agriculture.
