A bridge replacement project and drainage repairs will require road closures at two locations on KY 1285 (East Union Road) in Nicholas County for the next three weeks.
On Wednesday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to about 3 p.m., state highway crews will close KY 1285 just south of Lower Concord Road at the 3 mile marker to replace a cross drain under the roadway.
Then, on Thursday, June 12, contractors will close KY 1285 at the North Fork of Somerset Creek (1.8 miles north of KY 57) to rebuild the roadway and connect it to a newly-built bridge over the creek. The contractor is allowed up to 15 working days – approximately three weeks – to complete the bridge approaches, during which time the road will remain closed to all traffic at the work site.
While the road is closed, signs will mark a state highway detour using KY 57 and KY 36 as an alternate route.
Road work is subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
