Open Forums Planned to Discuss Academic Self-Study

IUON

If new fields of study are recommended at Morehead State University at the end of an academic self-review now underway, those programs would need a “thumbs up” from Kentucky’s Council on Postsecondary Education

MSU Provost Dr. Stephen Ralston says MSU’s faculty would also have to agree to them.

“Anything that we do first has to be approved by the faculty. The faculty governs our curriculum, and rightfully so. Any new programs, however they come to us, whether they are faculty recommended or student recommended, however they come, has a very rigorous process of approval, beginning with the faculty.”

Dr. Ralston is leading the self-study of MSU’s academic programs, which is targeted for completion in early May.

The school’s President Dr. Wayne Andrews says he’ll hold two forums on the study and other university issues later this month. They both take place in the student center.

The first forum is March 23rdand 3 p.m. and the second is March 24th at 8 a.m.
