Paving Project Begins On US 60 In Boyd County

Motorists traveling US 60 in Boyd County should expect delays, and are encouraged take alternate routes, as a resurfacing project continues between Cannonsburg and Princess.

Contractors began work on Wednesday, Aug. 13, along nearly two miles of the highway from near KY 5 at Princess to the traffic lights at the KY 180 intersection in Cannonsburg. Traffic is one lane controlled by flaggers during daytime work hours. Work will take place for approximately two weeks.

During that time, due to high traffic volumes - especially during morning and evening rush hour - motorists could experience lengthy delays. Signs and message boards have been placed encouraging drivers to take alternate routes, such as:

- From I-64 or Carter County, use interstate Exit 185 then KY 180 at Cannonsburg to access US 60 to Ashland, rather than the Exit 181 Coalton interchange.

- From Ashland, US 60 motorists can use KY 180 to Exit 185 and I-64 to reroute to US 60 at Exit 181.

- From KY 5, motorists may still use US 60 west to access I-64; and can use KY 716 or KY 3293 to access US 60 back to Cannonsburg.
