Posthumus Named OVC Co-Player Of The Week

MSU Athletics

Morehead State senior Chad Posthumus has been named Ohio Valley Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week after posting 37 points (12.3 pg) and 50 rebounds (16.7 pg) in three contests last week. The Eagles went 2-1 with wins over Northern Kentucky and Nevada.

Posthumus pulled down a game-best 16 rebounds at Northern Kentucky. He also tallied a career-high 21 points and game-high 18 rebounds at nationally-ranked UCLA. The center then recorded 10 points and a game-best 16 rebounds at Nevada.

Posthumus ranks third in the nation with 13.3 rebounds per tilt. He also leads the Eagles in field-goal percentage (.529) and places third in scoring (11.4). The 6-foot-11 native of Canada has collected six double-doubles in 40 contests at Morehead State, including four this season.

Posthumus, who averaged 7.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the floor as a junior in 2012-13, has recorded 51 points (12.8 pg) and 65 rebounds (16.3 pg) over his past four affairs. Sunday's (Nov. 24) performance at UNR was his fifth straight with double-figure boards.

Morehead State is 5-2 overall and 3-2 on the road this season. The Eagles have already set a school record with five wins in November and are one road victory from matching last year's total (4-12). MSU returns to action on Thanksgiving Day against Chattanooga in Las Vegas.

Posthumus becomes the first Eagle to receive a weekly honor from the conference office since Milton Chavis on Nov. 12, 2012. He shares the accolade with sophomore Craig Bradshaw, who averaged 20.3 points as Belmont rolled to wins over Lipscomb, Holy Cross and Hofstra.
