President Andrews Picked as Kentucky’s AASCU Member

Morehead State University President Wayne D. Andrews has been appointed to serve as the state representative for Kentucky for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. He will serve through 2014. 

As a member of the council, he will help formulate and recommend the AASCU’s Public Policy Agenda. 

AASCU is a Washington-based higher education association of more than 400 public colleges, universities and systems whose members share a learning- and teaching-centered culture, a historic commitment to underserved student populations and a dedication to research and creativity that advances their regions’ economic progress and cultural development. 

Dr. Andrews was appointed by Gov. Ernie Fletcher and then reappointed by Gov. Steve Beshear as one of Kentucky's five representatives on the Southern Regional Education Board. He has served as president of the Ohio Valley Conference. 

He is a graduate of Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts where he earned a B.S. degree in 1974 and of West Virginia University where he received a master's in 1976 and a doctorate in 1977. 

Dr. Andrews has nearly 40 years of higher education experience at three public, comprehensive universities: Morehead State, East Tennessee State and Illinois State. He has served in a variety of roles, including a tenured professorship in engineering technology, department chair, executive assistant to the president,vice president for student affairs, vice president for administration, and chief operating officer and president. 

He is the 13th president of MSU and has served in that position since 2005.
