Public Meeting Planned on KY 7 Improvements in Elliott and Morgan Counties

Marks Ride

A second public meeting for a KY 7 highway improvement project in Elliott and Morgan counties will take place Thursday, April 16, in Sandy Hook.

The Transportation Cabinet project will reconstruct 10 miles of KY 7 from the southern city limits of Sandy Hook to the KY 711 intersection at Wrigley in Morgan County.

The first public meeting for the project, which is currently in the design phase, was held in August last year. At that meeting, the public talked with state highway engineers and consultants about what changes would make KY 7 a better and safer roadway and made comments on the project.

At this next public meeting – scheduled for 5-7 p.m. April 16 at the Elliott County High School gymnasium – engineers will present preliminary designs currently under study. Those attending will be encouraged to provide feedback regarding the alternatives, and will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments.

The meeting will be conducted in an open house format, meaning that interested parties may attend at any time during the scheduled two hours. Both written and oral statements will be accepted at the meeting.

For more information, please call Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 toll free at (800) 817-2551 to speak to project engineers.
