MSU Athletics

No. 18 Morehead State rifle team fell to No. 4 Murray State, 4,714-4,587, at Pat Spurgin Rifle Range on Saturday.

The MSU smallbore team score of 2,283 and air rifle score of 2,304 were both season highs, and the aggregate score of 4,587 also marked a season high for the Eagles.

"This was a very good match for us as we continue to improve with the experiences gained. In each match this season our team score has increased," said Head Coach Alan Joseph. "We look forward to next week's contest at Ohio State where we will again take on the Racers at a neutral site."

There were many new Eagle personal bests fired Saturday. Sophmore Dan Hall broke the MSU prone record of 200-17, and he also tied his combined high score of 1,146 along with tying his personal record in smallbore (193).

Sophomore Haley Wilson matched Hall's performance, collecting a combined 1,156, the highest MSU combined score on the day and the season. She also racked up the MSU season high with a 588 in air rifle.  Wilson also accomplished her career high in smallbore prone with a 197.
