Rep. York Calls For Heroin Legislation in 2015

Kentucky House Republicans

When the Kentucky legislature convenes in January for its 2015 session, State Representative Jill York predicts that tackling the Commonwealth’s heroin problem will be at the top of the agenda.

The Grayson Republican says lawmakers nearly passed a heroin bill earlier this year and hopes the issue will be at the top of the agenda.

York says a bill dealing with heroin penalties and treatment passed in the Senate during the last session but came to the House too late.

York calls heroin a “horrible addiction” for some Kentuckians. She says the legislature owes it to them to crack down on dealers and create a pathway to recovery for those hooked on the drug.
