Rifle Claims Fourth Victory Overall and Second of Weekend Over UTM

Turning in its second highest aggregate score of the season, the nationally-ranked Morehead State Rifle team won its third straight home match, fourth match overall, and second of the weekend over UT Martin Sunday.

The Eagles bested the UTM Mixed Team 4621-4601. The UTM women scored a 4416.

With four of the five in the air rifle starting lineup at 580 or better, the Eagles shot their second best air score of the year at 2331. They totaled a 2290 in smallbore.

Freshman Chris Hake fashioned a team-high 586 in air for a new personal best. His career-standard 566 smallbore total allowed him to set a career-high aggregate at 1152. Freshman Ryan Hinson shot a 585 in air, followed by sophomore Alexa Potts at 583 and sophomore Jesse Moyer at 582. Junior Brandon Bryer and sophomore Karly Potts were both at 581. Junior Siarra Crum notched a 576.

In smallbore, Bryer tied his personal-best prone at 199, set a standing career-best at 189 and established his best-ever score at 580. All that allowed him to set a career-best aggregate at 1161. Moyer and Karly Potts each tied career-highs in prone at 196. Senior Seth Baker was second on the team in smallbore at 572 today, while Hake tied his kneeling best (192) and broke his standing standard (179).

Morehead State will face Jacksonville State on the road Saturday.
