Road Crews On Stand-By, Ready For Snow

Courier-Journal

Salt truck and snow plow crews in Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 will report for duty at 2 a.m. in all northeast Kentucky counties to respond to slick road conditions Tuesday (March 25) morning if necessary.

The National Weather Service is forecasting snow showers overnight across much of the region with lows below freezing. While less than a half inch of snow accumulation is predicted, there is a potential for slick travel – especially during the morning commute.

Crews in Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Nicholas and Rowan counties will have salt and equipment ready to treat roadways when needed, but motorists should travel with caution.

Take it slow, wear seat belts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and use caution on bridges, exit ramps and shaded valleys as those areas are often more prone to icing.

Road condition updates are available by calling 511 or visiting 511.ky.gov
